Privacy Policy

The app collects no personal data. Everything it shows is calculated on your own device, and it works completely offline. The only component that contacts the internet is Google AdMob, which serves the banner advertisements.
Malayalam Calendar (“the app”) is a Kerala panchangam and calendar published by Joel Jose. This policy explains exactly what the app does, and does not do, with your information.
What the app stores on your device
The app saves your settings so it can remember them between launches:
- your chosen language (Malayalam or English);
- your chosen Kerala district;
- your chosen theme;
- whether each notification type is switched on, and the time you picked for the daily reminder.
This information is held in the app’s own storage on your device. It never leaves your device, it is never sent to us, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.
If you add the home-screen widget, the app also writes the current day’s calendar values — the Malayalam date, nakshatram and Rahu kalam — to local device storage so the widget can display them. That is calculated data, not personal data.
What the app does not collect
The app does not collect, transmit or store:
- your name, email address, phone number, or any account information;
- your location — your district is a setting you choose from a fixed list, and the app never reads GPS or any location sensor;
- your contacts, photos, files or calendar entries;
- analytics, crash reports, usage statistics or advertising identifiers gathered by us.
The app has no user accounts, no login and no server of its own. All astronomical calculations are performed on your device, and all festival and holiday data is bundled inside the app when it is built.
Advertising
The app displays banner advertisements from Google AdMob on the Month and Holidays screens only. There are no advertisements on the Today screen, and the app never shows full-screen or interstitial advertisements.
To serve these advertisements, Google may collect and process data as described in its own policies. This may include:
- your device’s advertising identifier;
- general device information, such as model, operating system version and language;
- approximate location derived from your IP address;
- your interaction with the advertisements shown.
This processing is carried out by Google, not by us. We receive no personal information from Google; we see only aggregate, anonymous reports of impressions and earnings. Google’s handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and by how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
You can limit advertisement personalisation at any time:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Notifications
Notifications are optional and switched off by default. When you turn them on, they are scheduled entirely on your device from calculations the app performs locally. No notification content passes through any server, and we receive no information about whether a notification was shown or opened.
Permissions
- Notifications — requested only when you switch on a reminder, so the app can post it. Declining simply leaves reminders off.
- Network access — used only by Google AdMob to fetch advertisements. No other part of the app makes network requests.
Children
The app is a general-audience calendar. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address and the “last updated” date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s Play Store release notes.
